NUR203 - The Nurse Leader and Delegation (1.5 HR)

Purpose: The purpose of this course is to increase knowledge in the nursing delegation skill set needed to appropriately use delegation as a tool in nursing practice.

Objectives:  

1. Define delegation; 
2. Differentiate between responsibility and accountability; 
3. List two benefits of delegation for the registered nurse; 
4. List two challenges to delegation for the registered nurse; 
5. Discuss the five rights of delegation; 
6. Describe how delegation influences patient outcomes; 
7. Summarize the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Delegation Decision-Making Grid; 
8. List the three categories of the American Nurse Association’s Nursing Principles of Delegation.
