End of Life Care

The purpose of this course is to develop a guide for nurses in the understanding and delivery of compassionate nursing care at end-of-life.

To assist the learner in recognizing and understanding the signs and symptoms of the active dying process and the corresponding care interventions.

The purpose of this course is to understand the cultural importance of the individual and those directly affected including family and friends in dealing with illness and death. As the U.S. becomes more ethnically and racially diverse and culturally complex, there is a need to understand how to work with individuals who have values, health beliefs, and perspectives that are different from your own or those you are familiar with.

This course encourages health care providers to deliver compassionate, individualized end-of-life care that honors each terminally ill patient’s values, preferences, and sense of dignity. 

The purpose of this course is to educate the learner about the concept of hospice and the corresponding philosophies and services it provides.
