The purpose of this course is to provide greater understanding of arrhythmias, how and why they develop, symptoms associated with an arrhythmia, and general treatment measures to expect. We will briefly cover EKG changes, medication, treatment, and life support interventions.

The nurse will better understand atrial fibrillation and how it can be treated and managed.

This course will discuss coronary heart disease at length – including the causes of the disease, risk factors involved, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of coronary heart disease. The course will also touch on how to delay or even prevent CHD and strategies for living and coping with the disease.

Heart failure occurs when the heart is unable to pump enough blood, which provides oxygen to the muscles, tissues, and other organs of the body. Because not all individuals will have pulmonary congestion or volume overload, heart failure is the terminology preferred today over congestive heart failure.

Heart failure (HF) is a significant problem in the United States. HF is increasing in incidence and prevalence due to improved survival after cardiovascular events and the increased aging population.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressive neurologic disorder that attacks the nerve cells (neurons) responsible for controlling voluntary muscles.

Health care professionals will increase their understanding of asthma.

Upon completion of this course the participants’ will have an increased understanding of COPD.

To enhance the participant’s knowledge and understanding of medications used to treat COPD including how they work, methods of administration, and side effects.

The certified medication aide will review and update her understanding of pneumonia as well as the care and treatment of patients with the disease.

The health care professional will enhance his or her understanding of the sleep apnea disorder.
