REG132 - Florida: Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace (2.0 HR)

Description:

Since November 2015, the Florida Board of Nursing requires licensed registered nurses to complete a two-hour course based on how impaired individuals can impact the workplace. This course fulfills the requirement set by the Florida Board of Nursing.  The audience for this course is primarily focused on registered nurses in Florida who are directly impacted by impairment in the workplace.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

1. Examine the current status of substance abuse in Florida and throughout the United States.
2. Describe risk factors in substance abuse which apply to the nursing profession.
3. Identify the signs of substance abuse that can appear in the nursing workplace.
4. Recognize Florida laws and regulations for practicing registered nurses with respect to impairment in the workplace.
5. Discuss the process for notifying all interested parties about a case or allegation of impairment in the workplace.
6. Identify the types of treatment programs that have been created for licensed practitioners who have been impaired in the workplace.
7. Describe what actions can be taken by employers that ensure safety through procedures and protocols.
