REG131 – Florida Laws and Rules (2.0 HR)

Since April 2013, the Florida Board of Nursing requires licensed professionals to complete a two-hour course based on the laws and regulations for nursing practices in the state of Florida. This course fulfills the requirement set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing.

The audience for this course is primarily focused on: registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Define the beginning stages and development of the history of nursing.
2. Explain the impact of the development of rules and regulations for the nursing profession.
3. Describe the formulation of rules and regulations for the nursing profession in the state of Florida.
4. Recognize the importance of Florida Statutes Chapter 456: “Health Professions and Occupations.”
5. Explain the parts of the Florida Statute Chapter 464: “Nursing.”
6. Discuss the parts in Chapter 64B9 of the Florida Administrative Code.
7. Demonstrate knowledge of the Code of Ethics in nursing.
8. Discuss the types of legal issues that impact the nursing profession.
