The purpose of this course is to help nurses and other health care professionals with incorporating the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Patient’s Bill of Rights into their practice and into their patient education. 

Purpose: Health care personnel working in the hospital setting will increase their knowledge and understanding of Patient’s Rights.

Objectives:

  1. List at least 10 different patient rights and what they entail; 
  2. Give examples of how to maintain patients’ rights in the day-to-day hospital routine; 
  3. Understand how being responsive to consumer rights and patient rights leads to the provision of quality care; 
  4. Identify specific patient responsibilities regarding their rights.
