All staff working in the long term care setting will increase their knowledge and skills in caring for persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder.
Purpose: All staff working in the long term care setting will increase their knowledge and skills in caring for persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder.
Objectives:
- Discuss and demonstrate strategies for success in assisting persons with dementia in activities of daily living in the following areas: dressing, grooming, eating, bathing and toileting/incontinence;
- Identify medications commonly prescribed for residents with AD and discuss their side effects;
- Explain detection and prevention of malnutrition and dehydration.
