The state guidelines for Preceptor Curriculum list five topics and eleven areas of focus. Our Preceptor course incorporates thirteen additional subject areas such as Aspects of Aging, Marketing & Sales, Insurance, Legal Aspects, and Public Relations. We believe these skill sets are important for an AIT to acquire from his or her Preceptor.

Purpose:

Health care supervisory personnel will refresh their knowledge related to recognizing substance misuse in the workplace.

Objectives:
1. Recognize evidence of employee alcohol and other drug misuse.
2. Describe how to document employee alcohol and drug misuse problems.
3. Explain how to properly investigate situations related to substance misuse.
4. Describe how to validate that an employee has a substance misuse problem as well as confront them.
5. Discuss referral of employees who misuse alcohol or other drugs to Employee Assistance Programs or to a resource file maintained by the employer.
