CNA200 - CMA: Rheumatoid Arthritis (1.0 HR)
To enhance the participant's understanding of rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease, mainly characterized by inflammation of the lining, or synovium, of the joints. It can lead to long-term joint damage, resulting in chronic pain, loss of function and disability. RA affects 1.3 million Americans. While there is currently no known cause or cure for RA, it is easier than ever to control RA through the use of new drugs, exercise, joint protection and self-management techniques.
Objectives:
1. Define rheumatoid arthritis.
2. Discuss current theories about the possible cause of RA.
3. List and discuss common symptoms of RA.
4. Explore common diagnostic tests and procedures used to diagnose RA.
5. Describe treatment options for RA.
6. Explore risk factors associated with RA.
7. Discuss self-management techniques for RA.
