CNA106 - Caring for the Alzheimer's Patient (1.0 HR)
Health care workers will understand the warning signs of Alzheimer’s, the diagnosis process, the stages of the disease, and how to keep the resident safe, as well as how to care for a resident with Alzheimer’s disease. Prevention and future outlook of Alzheimer’s will be discussed.
Purpose: The certified nursing assistant will enhance his/her learning skills in the care of the Alzheimer's patient.
Objectives:
- To understand what Alzheimer’s Disease is and how widespread it is;
- To be aware of the testing process used to identify AD;
- Discuss the stages of Alzheimer’s;
- Discuss the warning signs;
- Discuss the importance of safety;
- Discuss communication with the person that has AD;
- Discuss personal care; 8. Gain knowledge of prevention and cure.
