This course will provide the direct caregiver with guidelines for appropriate care of the cognitively impaired resident and provide strategies to manage challenging behaviors during the bathing experience.
Purpose: This course will provide the direct caregiver with guidelines for appropriate care of the cognitively impaired resident and provide strategies to manage challenging behaviors during the bathing experience.
Objectives:
- Assess the resident’s needs at bath time;
- Understand the basic guidelines for bathing residents with dementia;
- Enhance the therapeutic effects of the bathing process;
- Provide an environment and bathing options which meet the resident’s needs and add to their quality of life.
