Health care personnel will increase their care giving skills and understanding of patients with pressure ulcers.
Purpose: Health care personnel will increase their care giving skills and understanding of patients with pressure ulcers.
Objectives:
- Discuss the incidence of pressure ulcers;
- Define those individuals who are more at risk for pressure ulcer development;
- Utilize a pressure ulcer assessment scale;
- Identify potential causes of skin breakdown;
- List at least 10 guidelines for prevention of pressure ulcers;
- Explain how a pressure ulcer develops;
- Identify appropriate treatment measures to use when skin breakdown occurs.
