Purpose: Health care professionals will enhance their understanding of the complications associated with diabetes mellitus.
Objectives:
- Discuss the three major types of diabetes;
- Discuss diabetic retinopathy, causes, treatment and patient teaching;
- Explore diabetic neuropathies, causes, treatment and patient teaching;
- Discuss the ABCs of cardiovascular care and the diabetic patient;
- Explore causes of cardiovascular complications in the diabetic patient as well as treatment and patient teaching;
- Discuss kidney complications associated with diabetes, cause, treatment, and patient teaching.
