Purpose: To enhance the healthcare professional’s knowledge of influenza: the biology, transmission, signs and symptoms, and infection control measures utilized to minimize transmission of the disease.
Objectives:
- Explore influenza viruses;
- Discuss influenza pandemics;
- Identify the signs and symptoms of influenza;
- Discuss the role of laboratory diagnosis and influenza;
- Discuss infection control measures in preventing and controlling influenza in healthcare facilities;
- Explore avian influenza.
