To enhance the learner’s knowledge of autism spectrum disorders.
Purpose: To enhance the learner’s knowledge of autism spectrum disorders.
Objectives:
- Explore the autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), including rare ASDs;
- Discuss indicators of autism spectrum disorders;
- Discuss social symptoms, communication difficulties and repetitive behaviors associated with ASDs;
- Explore problems that may accompany ASD;
- List the two-stage process used to diagnose autism spectrum disorders;
- Discuss aids and treatment options available for ASD;
- Explore medications that may be used with ASD;
- Discuss living arrangements for the adult with an ASD;
- Discuss research into causes and treatment of ASDs;
- Explore the Children’s Health Act of 2000.
