To be aware of general safety issues and how to prevent injuries in the workplace.
Purpose: To be aware of general safety issues and how to prevent injuries in the workplace.
Objectives:
- Describe the steps of hand hygiene and its importance in health care;
- Discuss the basics of body mechanics and be aware of some lifting/transfer aids on the market;
- Discuss kitchen safety and be aware of work practices to avoid injury;
- Discuss hazard communication and be aware of what information is included on a Safety Data Sheet;
- Identify slips, trips and falls and how to prevent them;
- Be aware of ways to avoid injury when using ladders;
- Discuss Blood-borne pathogens;
- Identify tuberculosis symptoms and testing protocols;
- Be aware of possible ways to prevent aggression and how to react to it.
