To enhance communication between the patient/resident with dementia and health care personnel.
Purpose: To enhance communication between the patient/resident with dementia and health care personnel.
Objectives:
- Explain the normal communication process;
- Differentiate between delirium, delusion, hallucinations, and dementia;
- Discuss reversible and irreversible dementias;
- Discuss communication challenges of the resident with dementia;
- List and discuss strategies to aid in communicating with the resident with dementia.
