REG117 - Domestic Violence for Florida (2.0 HR)
To enhance the learner’s understanding of family violence, causes, physical, psychological and behavioral indicators; and family violence prevention.
Purpose: To enhance the learner’s understanding of family violence, causes, physical, psychological and behavioral indicators; and family violence prevention.
Objectives:
- Discuss the prevalence and background information about domestic violence;
- Identify current psychological models for domestic violence;
- Explore the relationship between domestic violence, and power and control, as well as learn about the types and symptoms of domestic violence;
- Discuss the behavioral indicators of domestic violence, as well as characteristics of abusers, victims and children affected by domestic violence;
- Explore the cycle of violence;
- Assess family violence in terms of assessing level of risk, documenting violence, handling a disclosure of violence, and assisting the victim in developing a safety plan;
- Explore domestic violence prevention.
