Purpose: To enhance the nursing assistant’s knowledge and understanding of Parkinson’s disease and how to care for the person served who has it.
Objectives:
- Explain the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease;
- List the five stages of Parkinson’s disease;
- Describe the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease;
- List the four classic signs of Parkinson’s disease;
- Discuss the complications associated with Parkinson’s disease including the interventions the nursing assistant might take in caring for the person served who is exhibiting these complications.
