Purpose: Health care personnel working in all settings will increase their knowledge and skills in addressing the issues of non-pressure-related skin ulcers, hospice, dialysis, and pain related to the guidelines found in Tag F309. 

Objectives:

  1. Discuss investigative protocols used during surveys for quality of care issues. 
  2. Define criteria for compliance with quality of care F309. 
  3. Discuss regulatory requirements for the specific quality of care issues non-pressure-related skin ulcer/wound, hospice services, dialysis services, and pain management. 
  4. Develop a plan of care that is consistent with the resident’s condition, needs, behaviors, preferences, and with current standards of practice related to quality of care issues. 
  5. Cite examples of non-compliance and severity determinations related to pain management.
