Enhances the participant's knowledge of HIV and AIDS.
Purpose: To enhance the participant’s knowledge of HIV and AIDS. Objectives: 1. Describe and differentiate between HIV and AIDS; 2. Explain how HIV can be transmitted; 3. Identify opportunistic infections/diseases that may occur with the HIV patient; 4. Discuss drug treatment and clinical management of HIV/AIDS; 5. Discuss methods to prevent transmission of HIV/AIDS and infection control procedures to use in the workplace; 6. Explain exposure management; 7. Discuss the impact of current Florida law on testing, confidentiality of test results, treatment of patients and appropriate protocols/procedures for counseling, testing, reporting, testing pregnant women and partner notification.
