Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to understand Parkinson’s disease, diagnosis and treatment.
Purpose: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to understand Parkinson’s disease, diagnosis and treatment.
Objectives:
- Differentiate the eight types of Parkinson’s disease;
- Describe the clinical course of primary parkinsonism;
- Discuss the role of the various caregivers and the utilization of physical speech, and occupational therapy in the management of Parkinson’s disease;
- Explain the role of family and support systems for the patient with Parkinson’s disease;
- Explain at least four nursing diagnoses, with rationale, pertinent to patients with Parkinson’s disease;
- Discuss pharmacologic management of Parkinson’s disease.
