To be eligible for the 1-hour recertification course, you must have previously completed the full 2-hour course,  Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training and/or Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training.

The purpose of this course is to better identify Dependent Adult Abuse, the signs and symptoms, reporting requirements and continuing education required for mandatory reporters. This course meets the requirements for the 2-hour training on Dependent Adult Abuse and is appropriate for any individual who is designated a mandatory reporter by the state of Iowa.

All staff working in the long term care setting will increase their knowledge and skills in caring for persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder.

The following training meets the Indiana Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) annual required six (6) hours of annual in-service training to renew QMA certification each year.  For insulin administration certified QMAs, one (1) additional hour of in-service training directly related to insulin administration must also be completed each year.

The purpose of this course is to enhance the knowledge of the health care professional in defining, assessing, identifying, increasing awareness, reporting, and caring for elderly people who may be suffering from abuse or neglect, whether in a private home or a residential setting.

This course discusses the care of individuals with dementia and is intended to meet the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements for dementia training. Topics covered include communication, behavior management, abuse prevention, and dementia. All staff working in the long-term care setting will increase their knowledge and skills in caring for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

To provide information in accordance with Iowa law that a supervisor needs to develop and/or implement a substance abuse prevention program, including drug and/or alcohol testing, in the workplace setting.

All health care personnel must be familiar with residents’ rights and know how these relate to the care provided. This course is intended to help all health care personnel working in the long-term care setting to increase their knowledge and understanding of federal residents’ rights as well as gain a general understanding of common resident responsibilities.

You will study what the August 5, 2016 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) memo mandated that nursing homes do in regards to social media, including creating and implementing policies, training staff, and responding and reporting allegations of abuse. In June 2016, the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) gave written guidance to members about what these policies may encompass, which will be discussed.
