Purpose: The participant will enhance their understanding of compliance issues in healthcare, including how understanding laws, quality indicators in health care, and following a company’s code of conduct can help maintain the privacy afforded to Americans.

Objectives:

  2. Implement quality initiatives for various health care settings.
  3. Explain what the Americans with Disabilities Act is and the important role it has in health care compliance.
  4. Identify the role of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in health care.
  5. Describe how fraud can occur with Medicaid and Medicare.
  6. Recognize what an acceptable code of conduct is for employees.
  7. Discuss how employees will be held accountable for not complying with their code of conduct.
