The participant will enhance their understanding of compliance issues in healthcare.
Purpose: The participant will enhance their understanding of compliance issues in healthcare, including how understanding laws, quality indicators in health care, and following a company’s code of conduct can help maintain the privacy afforded to Americans.
Objectives:
- State the role of the United States Department of Health and Human Services in providing health care to Americans.
- Implement quality initiatives for various health care settings.
- Explain what the Americans with Disabilities Act is and the important role it has in health care compliance.
- Identify the role of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in health care.
- Describe how fraud can occur with Medicaid and Medicare.
- Recognize what an acceptable code of conduct is for employees.
- Discuss how employees will be held accountable for not complying with their code of conduct.
