This course is intended for all employees in the long-term care setting. You will learn what is social media, what privacy rights residents have related to social media, and types of possible criminal abuse via social media. You will study what the August 5, 2016 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) memo mandated that nursing homes do in regards to social media. In June 2016, the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) gave written guidance to members about what these policies may encompass, which will be discussed.

Algunas publicaciones en las redes sociales realizadas por empleados de residencias para ancianos han conllevado a violaciones de la HIPAA, alegaciones de abuso o cargos penales. Como resultado, los Centros de Servicios Medicare y Medicaid (CMS, por sus siglas en inglés) ahora requieren que las residencias para ancianos implementen políticas sobre las redes sociales, que entrenen sobre su uso apropiado y que supervisen el cumplimiento de la política. This course discusses the care of individuals with dementia and is intended to meet the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements for dementia training. Topics covered include communication, behavior management, abuse prevention, and dementia. All staff working in the long-term care setting will increase their knowledge and skills in caring for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

To be aware of general safety issues and how to prevent injuries in the workplace.

The purpose of this course is to provide education to health care employees who are involved in the care of persons with behavioral health disorders. Following this course, you will be able to identify the prevalence of mental illness in the United States, define and possess knowledge of mental illness and substance-related and addictive disorders, and determine what is involved with an interdisciplinary approach to care. This course will address the psychosocial needs of individuals with behavioral health issues and conclude which elements contribute to achieving the highest standard of care for such individuals. It also addresses substance abuse related to opioid use for pain management. 

The Antibiotic Stewardship Program is required to be incorporated in the overall infection prevention and control program.

El Programa de Administración de Antibióticos debe ser incorporado en el programa general de control y prevención de infecciones. El programa debe ser revisado anualmente y en el caso que sea necesario hacerlo. El programa está diseñado para promover consciencia sobre el uso excesivo de antibióticos y los efectos negativos asociados.
